Aimless Driving

When we first moved here I was stuck to our GPS like white on rice. I have a love hate with our GPS. It gets us to our destination, yes, but it also takes us through meandering back streets and can add on an extra ten or fifteen minutes to our route. New Jersey driving is also confusing, with limited left-hand turn options. The solution is turning right off the main road in order to go left. Our GPS calls these turns "roundabouts" and they are extremely hard to navigate when you don't know where you're going (and not always accurate). I've missed them countless of times and drove on frantically trying to figure out how to get where I needed to go.

I've gotten braver as time has gone by, and simply left the GPS off, and instead relied on my own internal GPS system as I've memorized major roads. One of these instances was yesterday when I was coming home from Target. I prefer to take Highways whenever possible to avoid the countless stoping and going at traffic lights. However, that tactic only works when you know which exit to get off of. With no GPS accessibility (Brian had it in his car for the day) I was left up to my own devices. Which proved to be wrong. 35 minutes worth of wrong.

I know I'm job hunting and can afford to deal with the unexpected delays, but I'd still like to regain all the minutes and hours wasted driving aimlessly in my car. The GPS. You either love it or hate it. Yesterday, I would have loved it.
