Frisbee What???

Since work is a bit slow because I don't yet know what I should be doing or what I'm not doing that I should be doing (as it often is for the first few weeks of a new job), I've decided to focus on "Team Development" activities.

One may ask, what activities could you possibly plan for folks that work in a soup plant besides, "bring your own ingredient day" or "wear your favorite color shirt day"...by the way, I did purchase a pretty sweet Green Bay Packer hard-hat to wear while I'm trying to keep myself out of the giant soup kettles.

What better activity to build (or tear apart) a team than one of my absolute favorites, Frisbee Golf! I was out on a walk-break enjoying the 70+ degree weather when I stumbled, quite literally, on a PDGA course directly across the street from the plant. That's PROFESSIONAL Disc Golf Association for you amatuers. So I decided to start a frisbee golf club and so far we have a strong following that represents just over 1% of the employee base (ie. me, my friend Rob, and a couple of IS yahoos).

We got 9 holes in this afternoon in less time than it takes for me to make the 40 minute commute (45 minutes if I'm stopping to pick up a carpooler). I think I'll be making this a regular break, at least until the snow starts flying...in January. It's too bad Michelle and I made it out of Minneapolis 2 days before it snowed 4 inches!

I hope all you faithful Blog followers (so far that is Nick White) come to visit us sometime soon!
